Shown coming off the production line in Japan, the Lancer Evolution MR arrives at showrooms in the U.S. in June and is available for a suggested retail price of $38,290. The MR features more user technology and a broader market appeal than the entry level GSR, including an advanced 6-speed Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission.
The Lancer Evolution MR is available with an optional technology package for $40,840 that includes a 30GB hard drive navigation system with music server, 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate Premium Sound System, pre-paid Sirius Satellite Radio capability and FAST Key entry, which allows passive vehicle unlocking and engine start/stop simply by carrying the remote control and grasping the handle.
Since its introduction earlier this year, the tenth-generation 2008 Lancer Evolution GSR has met positive reactions across the industry for maintaining a balance of core performance values and improved all-around capability and user-technology:
"The introduction of the 2008 Lancer Evolution MR with TC-SST gives us an opportunity to expand upon the existing Evolution customer base," said Dan Kuhnert, executive vice president of sales and marketing for MMNA. "The added capability and functionality of the new Lancer Evolution vehicles make them a more viable option for everyday driving, while maintaining the rally-inspired heritage that has made the series a global performance car icon."
Both 2008 Lancer Evolution models will be on display at the 2008 Mitsubishi Owner's Day taking place in Cypress, CA on July 19, 2008.

Conducted by noted automotive consulting firm, AutoPacific, Inc., the Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSA) serve as an industry benchmark for objectively measuring how satisfied an owner is with their new passenger car or light truck. The 2008 VSA was measured across 46 specific areas related to vehicle operation, comfort, safety and overall experience and was based on numerical satisfaction ratings generated from the input of buyers and leasers of new vehicles acquired between September and December of 2007.
"Vehicles like the Mitsubishi Lancer that are all new received top rankings in their respective categories," said AutoPacific President George Peterson. "These new-for-2008 vehicles were strongly rated by their owners showing that the industry continues to improve as new vehicles are added to the hotly contested American car and light truck markets."
The Mitsubishi Lancer was completely redesigned in 2007 to boost more rally-inspired performance features and cutting-edge in-car technology. It has since been recognized as a solid entry-level compact vehicle across the industry by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com (2008 Coolest New Car Under $18,000), About.com (Top 10 Cars for Teens), CNNMoney.com (10 Cars Worth Waiting For) and BrandIntel (2008 Consumer Voice Award).
"This award really validates the positive feedback the Lancer has received from both industry experts and consumers alike since we redesigned it last year," said Dan Kuhnert, executive vice president of sales and marketing for MMNA. "We are delighted to receive such recognition from a respected organization as AutoPacific and add this honor to the Lancer's growing list of distinctions."
The Mitsubishi Lancer is available in three levels of trim and driving dynamics - DE, ES and the sport-tuned GTS - starting at a price of $13,990. For the 2009 model year, the GTS is equipped with new 2.4-liter 168-hp aluminum DOHC MIVEC 4-cylinder engine. For more information about the Lancer, visit www.mitsubishicars.com.

2008 Mitsubishi Outlander: good performance in front, side, and rear tests and standard electronic stability control |

Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
The Mitsubishi Outlander was redesigned for the 2007 model year. Frontal ratings are assigned by the Institute based on a test conducted by Mitsubishi as part of frontal crash test verification.
Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. The side curtain airbag on the driver side deployed during the crash. During rebound, the dummy’s head contacted this side airbag, which kept the head away from any stiff structure that could cause injury.
Injury measures — Measures taken from the head, neck, and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the right tibia indicate that injuries to the lower leg would be possible.
Mitsubishi Motors North America held its fourth annual Mitsubishi Owners Day celebration (MOD) at its Cypress Headquarters on July 19. It was a “do not miss” day packed with more than 1,500 people and 750 Mitsubishi cars, ranging from Eclipses, to Evolutions, to Lancers and everything in between.
There was more than enough to do and see for people of all ages, including the introduction of the 2009 Lancer Ralliart, which captivated event attendees and was coined as the highlight of the day. Other attractions included the Dyno Challenge, won by Ka Wong with his 2006 Evo MR with 482 WHP @31 psi, and the Best of Show competition, won by Archie Concon with his 2000 Mirage/Evo conversion.
The day also contributed to some positive causes. Working in conjunction with national non-profit organization Kids Safety First, and with the help of a certified child safety seat technician from the California Highway Patrol, MMNA donated 100 booster seats to families that participated in a safety demonstration. MOD also generated $2,300 in proceeds that were donated to the Cypress Police Department’s DARE program.
